As environmental regulations become more demanding, the coatings industry is shifting quickly toward greener materials, easier application, and longer-lasting protection. Limits on harmful substances such as VOCs, heavy metals, and SVOCs are becoming stricter, and key application areas—including industrial protection, flooring, and exterior walls—are facing higher environmental standards.
As a result, solvent-free, ultra-low-VOC, and low-odor coatings are becoming a clear focus for new product development.

FW5502 waterborne polyaspartic resin is designed to meet these growing environmental and safety requirements. It is inherently solvent-free, self-emulsifying, high in solids, low in viscosity, and does not require coalescing agents. These features make it easier to reduce VOC levels and odor while improving application efficiency, making FW5502 a practical raw material for the next generation of eco-friendly coatings.
FW5502 is a solvent-free, self-emulsifying waterborne polyaspartic resin. It contains secondary amine groups that can react with -NCO groups. With high solids content, low viscosity, and excellent water dispersibility, it can be directly emulsified and dispersed in water.
When used with a waterborne isocyanate curing agent, FW5502 forms a high-performance two-component waterborne coating system. It is developed for applications that require both environmental compliance and reliable protective performance.

Conventional polyaspartic resins are usually solvent-free and have very low VOC content. However, when used in thin-film coatings, a small amount of solvent is often added to adjust application viscosity.
FW5502 is different. Thanks to its built-in hydrophilic structure, it can be emulsified and dispersed simply by adding 45–60% purified water. It disperses stably in water without the need for emulsifiers or coalescing agents, and it can dry naturally to form a film.
This helps reduce VOCs further at the formulation level. It is especially useful for enclosed and semi-enclosed spaces, where low odor and safer application are important.
When paired with a waterborne isocyanate curing agent, the emulsion offers a pot life of 1–2 hours. This gives applicators a more flexible working window, helping reduce rework, lower material waste, and improve overall application efficiency.
The coating becomes touch-dry in 2–4 hours and can be pressed without leaving marks after 8–24 hours. Its drying profile is well balanced: fast enough to support project schedules, yet not so fast that it becomes difficult to apply. This makes it suitable for both production line coating and on-site construction.
Clear coatings made with FW5502 can reach a hardness of H–2H. Its high crosslinking density gives the coating excellent resistance to wear, scratches, and solvents.
It also provides reliable water resistance, combining waterproofing and surface protection in one coating system. Stains are easier to clean, and the overall performance is higher than many conventional waterborne coatings.
Thanks to its stable aliphatic structure, the coating resists yellowing and chalking. Even after long-term exposure to sunlight and rain, it can maintain good gloss and color stability.
For indoor projects, FW5502 offers low odor and safer application, making it suitable for renovation work where a full shutdown may not be practical. For outdoor projects, it provides excellent UV and aging resistance. This makes it a practical option for both indoor and outdoor coating systems.
With a solids content of ≥99%, FW5502 avoids many of the safety risks associated with solvent-based materials. It is safer and more compliant during transportation, storage, and on-site use, making it well suited for applications with strict environmental requirements.
FW5502 provides high hardness, excellent wear resistance, and long-term weatherability. It helps protect outdoor floors over time while resisting yellowing.
For indoor flooring, its ultra-low odor makes it suitable for shopping malls, parking garages, factories, and similar spaces. In many cases, coating work can be carried out while the site remains in operation.
FW5502 can be used for both interior and exterior concrete wall coatings. The coating offers high hardness, easy-clean performance, and excellent resistance to water and stains.
Compared with traditional flexible coatings, it can make wall renovation more durable, cleaner, and more visually appealing.
With very low VOC, low odor, and dependable protective performance, FW5502 is suitable for enclosed and semi-enclosed spaces, as well as sensitive environments such as hospitals, schools, and public buildings.
It supports the development of coating systems that are safer, cleaner, and easier to align with compliance requirements.
